Our village is your village. Here with us, everything is that little bit more friendly. And we're still only 10 minutes away from the major transit routes. Forstau lies in the SalzburgerLand, in the heart of Austria and in the center of the ''Ski Amadé'' region. We are a small resort village with grand perspectives - nestled in a high valley (930m above sea level) between Radstadt and Schladming. In Forstau, you can experience the variety and harmony of our landscapes and the unaffected hospitality of our 520 locals. Whether you are here in summer or winter, the range of recreational activities is boundless, while you always have the opportunity to do absolutely nothing at all and lose yourself in thought.
Over 50 km of hiking paths in and around Forstau await you in summer. Riding, mountain biking, fishing, excursions and climbing are just a few of the recreational opportunities. Take a deep breath, escape the stresses of daily life and see, smell and feel the unique countryside. In the broader region surrounding Forstau, there are even more choices, such as swimming, paragliding, rafting, high-ropes courses, many beautiful and romantic gorges, castles and palaces, museums and nature adventures. The world-famous "City of Mozart", Salzburg, with its own unique sights is, just like so many other attractions in the SalzburgerLand, only a short trip away.
In winter, Forstau lies in the midst of the "Ski Amadé" region. The "Ski Amadé" is Austria's biggest ski alliance and offers skiing fun that knows absolutely no bounds! Our own ski mountain, the Fageralm, is the ideal place for casual skiers, families with children and those who love spending time in mountain lodges. Sunny enjoyment on the slopes, away from the hectic and stressful outside world! Here you have all the space you need to carve and snowboard to your heart's content. Special kids' slopes turn any day of skiing into an exciting adventure, while the cozy ski lodges invite you to stop in, enjoy refreshments and some carefree wintertime fun!
